Moderately successful LAN parties: HOW

Remember the days where you actually wanted to play games with your friends to their face?
It’s a subtle experience that is dying out in favour of online gaming and voice chat displacing lazy friends away from one another.
Gaming over local area network, that is to say … not over the Internet, is rare these days. Most games that support the feature are ancient, or created by the rare PC friendly developers that see it’s value.
That said, the LAN party of 2015 doesn’t have to be stuck in the past. There are games both new and old that form a great experience for a party.
It is also often surprising how little has actually changed in multiplayer games over the past 15 years. The core experiences haven’t changed much, and in some instances you will find experiences that have not been explored as In depth in the modern era.
